Proceeds from her poetry Ripples on the Surface were donated to Global Partners for Development to help women in Uganda with HIV/AIDS. She was a member of the Build the Dream Foundation, which was responsible for the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial in Washington, DC. She has been a longtime supporter of the Southern Poverty Law Center, Montgomery, AL, where her name is on the Wall of Tolerance. She is a past president of the Huntsville, AL, Society of the Classic Guitar, and a member of the Order of the Dead String, Vancouver, WA. |

She worked as an author and editor of KatMoran Publications. Before that, she worked for the United States Army for 29 years. |

She studied at LSU, Auburn University, and The Indian School of Music in NYC. |

In her free time she enjoys singing, playing classical guitar, baritone recorder, Celtic harp, and tending to her pollinator garden. |

She has published four volumes of poetry and three novels. She was also published in numerous volumes by the National Library of Poetry. A review of A Call to Contemplation out of Brown University stated, " ... in expression and quality, deMerle may have surpassed Dickinson." |

Ms. deMerle is the author of three novels involving reincarnation. Her first novel, Deception Past, is about past life identity theft, murder, blackmail, bigamy, and forgiveness. Dragonfly Dreams is a novel about retirement, romance and reincarnation. Her third novel, Five Flowers, is about a group of historical individuals who reincarnate together a total of three times. She has published four collections of poetry: Ripples on the Surface, Child of the Universe, A Call to Contemplation, and An Unconditional Moment. |
