He earned an Associate of Arts Degree from Fort Dodge Junior College in 1953 and then a Bachelor of Science Degree in law from the University of Nebraska in 1956. Then in 1958 he earned a Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree cum laude from the University of Nebraska. |

He dedicates this recognition to his mentor, Judge Robert Van Belt of the U.S. District Court in Lincoln Nebraska to whom he credits much of his success to. |

After finishing his education he was admitted to practice law in Nebraska, as well as before the U.S District Court for Nebraska and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. He held the position of law clerk to the U.S. District Court for Nebraska in 1958 and 1959. Next, he joined Baird Holm LLP in Omaha Nebraska as a partner for 44 years until 2003 and as senior counsel from 2003 to 2016. Since 2017, he has served as chairman emeritus of Spectrum Financial Services, Inc. He also served as a past board chair of Midland University and Bellevue University. He was a past president of the Omaha Estate Planning Council, past board chairman of the Great Western Bank Corporation, Inc. and on the chairman advisory committee appointed by the Supreme Court of Nebraska. |
