She has been involved with the National Art Educators Association, Kappa Delta Pi, the American Association of University Women. Alongside her professional responsibilities, she has also been an avid volunteer in her church. |

She has over 30 years of professional experience. In 1976 she became an Assistant Professor of Art Education at the School of Fine Arts at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, TX. In 1979, Ms. Patton worked as an Interior Design Consultant, Teacher, and Owner of J.P. Interiors Consulting Service. In 1983, she became an Art Consultant and Staff Development Resource teacher to San Diego City Schools. |

She dedicates this recognition to her late husband, Farrel L. Patton. He was the love of her life and they had been married for 64 years. She is the proud mother of their daughter, Gail Marie. |

She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Point Loma Nazarene University in California and then a Master of Arts degree from San Diego State University. Her focus was on sculpture and other fine art. |

She was drawn to the arts at an early age. Her mother, Bertha Casey, was insturmental in her career choice by encourgaing her to pursue a career that she loved. After earning her Bachelor of Science degree she held the position of High School Art Teacher in San Diego, CA. She moved to Texas after she completed her Master of Arts degree, and was honored for excellence in Art Education with a feature in the first edition print of “Notable Women of Texas (1984-1985)”. She served as an Associate Professor of Art at Texas Christian University until 2005. She continues to involve herself in art education. |
