He comes from a family devoted to the medical profession. His father and mother were an accomplished surgeon and pediatrician respectively, his younger brother is a cardiothoracic surgeon and additionally there are many other relatives who are also physicians or work within the fields of medicine. Dr. Fritz Lemoine has worked on both the administrative side as well as the patient service side of health care. He has held various positions for several health insurance committees and worked as the Inpatient Medical Director for a Medicare HMO. He's been a part of multiple medical boards as well as Hospital Chief of Medicine and on the Board of Trustees. His direct patient care experience has spanned the gamut of clinical practice - including research in diabetes (his passion) and other diseases, education as Assistant Professor of Medicine and other medical faculty positions, full time Emergency Room physician, full time Hospitalist, Nursing Home physician, Medical Director of a prison, Medical Director of a Cosmetic Center as well as full time Outpatient medical care. He describes himself as a "Medical Detective". He takes time with his patients, believing that 90% of real healthcare is spent observing, listening, paying attention, examining and educating those who come to him for his service. "Life and people aren't easy nor simple. The practice of medicine isn't about telling your patients to take this pill or give yourself this shot, or don't eat those foods and exercise more! If it's that simple then give everyone a computer and a prescription pad and you are sure to cut down healthcare costs. Many factors play a role in whether or not a medication or procedure is going to be successful, and you can't determine that in 10-15 minutes. Being a Medical Doctor takes hard work. Being a Medical Detective takes even more hard work, time, patience, dedication and passion. Instead of treating every patient who comes in with a specific medical problem the same, I prefer to cater the treatment to the individual patient - not the disease (within guidelines of scientific standard of care parameters of course). I treat patients like people, not numbers." He really is a rare breed of doctor. |
