While completing a work study program in graduate school, Kathleen was able to create and build an outpatient drug and alcohol program for uninsured youth. Kathleen had the opportunity to attend SAC meetings to present this project as well as network with other programs within the county to collaborate on providing additional resources. With the support and guidance from her mentor, Rita, Kathleen was able to create a new program for teenagers without insurance and who were struggling to cope without using substances. This opportunity helped Kathleen see the magnitude of this problem throughout the county and the importance of having this program. |
